Abstract: From the Minh Menh period, the names of the Nguyen's kings had one more letter (Ri). Because of this reason, under the bottoms of some kings' porcelains of the Nguyen's dynasty, there were letters ( ). In the Vietnam Museum of History in H.C.M. city, there are 10 porcelain artifacts with letter ( ) under the bottom, belonging to Kings and Mandarins. These artifacts were decorated with 4 sacred animals (dragon, fabulous unicorn, tortoise and phoenix). Some of them were decorated with landscapes and poems composed by King Minh Menh or King Tu Duc. The decorations were made with white and blue glaze.
